SCDC standing committees are essential to the work of SCDC. Also essential to this work are volunteers to work on the committees. If you are interested in learning more about our committees, you can reach out to our committee chairs. Our committee meeting dates are listed on our website events calendar and you are welcome to attend a meeting to learn more, as well.

FundRaising – Plans events to raise funds for SCDC. Some of our recent successful “fun”draisers include Tacos and Trivia, SCDC Family Cookout, SCDC Chili Cook Off, and a yearly Gala dinner and celebration.

Comms and Social Media– Manages our social media accounts and postings to share SCDC happenings, as well as, political news and issues. Our social media posts are essential to community education and engagement.

Precinct Operations – Manages all things related to our 7 magisterial districts and 29 polling locations in Spotsylvania County. They recruit volunteers to serve as District and Precinct Captains and to staff our SCDC table at precincts during early voting and on election day.

Membership – Manages all activities around recruiting and engaging our membership volunteers. Joining SCDC as a member is important, as your dues help to finance the work we do and the tools we use as an organization.

Outreach – Manages our community service and community involvement events. SCDC has an active partnership with the FXBG Regional Food Bank. We also join community events to promote our organization, and inform and engage our community on voting, elections, and candidates.

Candidate Search and Development – Manages the recruitment, development, and support of Democratic candidates for local and state offices.

Legislative Committee –Manages the identification and prioritizing of key political issues, both to promote important issues and to engage our members, the community at large, and elected officials. The committee helps to organize, postcard writing, letters to the editor/elected officials, and attendance at local School Board and Supervisors meetings.
